Ulrike W. Miles

A results-oriented, innovative thinker, Ulrike is the driving force behind philanthropy and strategic engagement efforts for private companies and nonprofit organizations. Drawing on her distinguished career in higher education and philanthropy, Ulrike has cultivated a robust network of business, civic, and non-profit connections to drive community engagements.

A seasoned strategist, Ulrike brings an extensive C-suite network and visionary leadership expertise to her activities and efforts to build rewarding connections and networks between philanthropic individuals and organizations that suit their passions.

Ulrike is a Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, serves on the board of the McColl Center for Art + Innovation as well as the Executive Board for Arts at Queens. Ulrike’s deep philanthropic expertise encompasses fundraising, solicitation, donor research and cultivation, as well as brand aesthetic and messaging development. As former development chair of the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, she has played an active role in the symphony’s fundraising initiatives and its Capital Campaign. Spearheading or participating in a range of multidisciplinary projects, Ulrike consistently applies a dynamic, systems thinking approach to complex problems.

Austria-born, Ulrike is a trilingual speaker with international and cultural awareness resulting in proven consensus building skills that recognizes the importance of diversity.

A graduate of Leadership Charlotte, Ulrike leverages a strong ability to facilitate collaborative decision making. Ulrike attended the University of Vienna and received her B.A. from Queens University of Charlotte. Additionally, she is certified in Nonprofit Board Consulting through Board Source. While employed at Queens, she was awarded Staff Person of the Year and served as Staff Council President. A passionate aviatrix, Ulrike holds a Private Pilot’s License and is frequently flying over Cape Cod and the Islands. Together with her husband Alex, she in deeply committed to bringing light to the communities in Charlotte, North Carolina and Chatham, Massachusetts.
